How has completing the annotated bibliography changed or clarified your understanding of your research topic? Discuss how your sources connect to one another and how they are shaping your argument moving forward.

Prompt Response: Completing the annotated bibliography changed and clarified my understanding of the research topic by allowing me to see how research truly works and things to consider when doing research. Most of my sources talk about the negative impacts of technology use on teens, but I was able to find others that opened a new perspective on how studies work, things to consider for when trying to find the effects of something. These new perspectives have shown me that I should consider new ways to approach my argument from trying to find the negative effects but also the positive and different variables to consider.   Summary: Today we continued working on out annotated bibliography  Reflection: I will finish it before Sunday

Which part of the annotated bibliography (summary, reflection, or evaluation) was the most challenging for you, and why? Explain how that challenge helped you grow as a researcher and how it will help you when writing your research paper.

Prompt Response:   The summary was the most challenging for me because found many source that have great and reliable information but were very lengthy. However, as I gathered and skimmed through the sources, I was able to effectively summarize the major points of the article. On the longer sources, I was able to pick the most important parts of the research, read the introduction and their goals, and read the conclusion, to come up with a summary. Summary: Today we started our annotated bibliography.  Reflection:  I will continue working on it.

As you gathered sources, you were expected to find multiple perspectives on your topic. What differences did you notice between your sources? Explain how these differences helped you better understand the complexity of your issue.

Prompt Response:  As I gathered sources, I noticed that there are many ways that researchers approach the effects of technology on young people. One article explain that the content consumed is the most important when it comes to determining whether it has negative effects on teens mental health. However, most articles I found argue that levels of screen time affect young peoples mental health. These differences showed me that there are many positive and negative effects of technological us, but there are also many ways to approach research studies and it is difficult to come to a conclusion with many perspectives and variables to consider. Summary: Today we continued researching for more sources on our topic.  Reflection: I will finish gathering sources before Thursday.

Think about your experience using GALILEO to find sources. How was this different from how you have searched for information in the past? Explain how using specific search strategies and evaluating sources impacted the quality of what you found.

Prompt Response : Using GALILEO has helped me find more creditable and reliable sources when doing research on a topic. Using this website is different from the past because I use to just Google information and it was difficult to find reliable sources, but with GALILEO I trust that most of the information is reliable and peered review. Using specific search strategies has helped find high level sources that are reliable for my research.  Summary : Today we started researching the sources we will use for the project. Reflection : I will continue searching for sources

Political cartoons often use exaggeration and symbolism to make a point, and they can also serve as important visual sources for analysis. What is being criticized in this image? What does this source suggest about the issue, and what does the cartoonist want the audience to question or reconsider?

Prompt Response:  The cartoon is criticizing how the US government is using the conflict in the MIddle East to distract people from the reality of what many people are facing. This source shows a an ICE agent and a big elephant attacking Uncle Sam, which suggest that the issue is very severe and no one is helping. The cartoonist want to show that they want people to ignore the internal issues and focus on the external issues that have nothing to do with fixing the internal issue. The government want people to look the other way and ignore the reality of hwat is going in inside the country.  Summary: We analyzed a research article as a class. Reflection:  I understood the research format.

Think about how you have searched for information in the past compared to what you practiced today. How is creating specific search phrases different from just “Googling” a topic? Explain how this strategy will improve the quality of your research.

Prompt Response:  Creating specific search phrases helps narrow down the information you actually want and helps you think about what you actually need not something vague. Meanwhile, just googling a topic will just give you any type of information that may contain a lot of bias or from a non-credible source. The specific search phrases strategy will help me search for more specific information about my topic to make my research more accurate.  Summary: Today we learn how to do accurate research and work with our groups  Reflection:  We finished the assignment with our group

Your research question is designed to explore a complex issue. What makes this topic difficult to answer or solve? Identify at least two different perspectives or factors related to your topic and explain why understanding multiple viewpoints is important.

Your research question is designed to explore a complex issue. What makes this topic difficult to answer or solve? Identify at least two different perspectives or factors related to your topic and explain why understanding multiple viewpoints is important. Prompt Response: My topic for this research project is personal technology effects and implications. This topic is difficult to answer as there are many negative and positive affects to using technology and depends on what perspective we approach the topic that makes it complex. One perspective for this topic is that if technology is overused it can lead to physical and mental health issue such as eye strain or anxiety. Another perspective is that technology can make many connections across the world, yet it can change in-person connections in a negative way. Understanding multiple viewpoints can help you see the complexity or another angle of the topic and narrow down what you think is best.  Summary: T oday we got into g...

Reflect on your past experiences with research in school. What challenges have you faced when working independently or in a group, and how did you handle them? Explain how those experiences will influence the way you approach this current research project.

Prompt Response:   When doing research in school, I have a hard time finding the right information. I have a hard time deciding whether something is bias or not and whether it comes from a credible source. While in group, I get to talk and decide as a group on whether a source is credible or not. I was able to receive help from a someone and figure out by myself whether a source was good or not. These experience helped me understand and make it easy to know what type of sources I should look for. Summary: Today we did a common lit assignment  Reflection:  I finished the assignment.

How does watching the film version of Into the Wild change or deepen your understanding of Chris McCandless compared to reading the book? In your response, explain one key difference in how his character or experiences are presented, and connect this to a time when seeing something visually changed your understanding of a situation.

Prompt Response:   The film version of Into the Wild changed and deepen my understanding of Chris McCandless by showing me his character as being warm, empathetic, and passionate, meanwhile in the book, Chris is portrayed as stubborn, and distant. Seeing something visually changed my understanding of the situation when he abandons his Datsun in a flash flood. In the book, this incident is shown as something reckless from an inexperience guy. However, in the film, this incident was shown in slow motion, which shows how he was forced to leave his possessions. This allowed me to see that his actions weren't as reckless as I thought they were, but rather as a rejection of unnecessary materials.  Summary: Today we watch the film adaptation of the book Reflection:  I watched the film

If you could plan the perfect spring break with no limitation, money, time, or responsibilities—what would it look like? Where would you go, who would you bring, and what would you do?

Prompt Response:  If I could plan the perfect spring break with no limitation, I would go to my home country. I would take my family that lives in the U.S  to visit the rest of our family. I would bring a lot of gifts for everyone and valuable knowledge that could help with their daily life. Once I am there, I would spend my time having fun and reliving childhood memories. I would look into what I was like growing, what I liked, and my baby pictures. I would want to hear stories from my grandparents and my aunt and uncles to get to know them better. I would also buy many things for them and make sure they travel around our country like taking them to the beach or go see the Maya pyramid. This is what I would if I had no limitations over the break although it's too short.  Summary: I didn't have his class today  Reflection:  I finished the blog post

McCandless set out to live independently in the wilderness, but his death reveals the harsh reality of nature and survival. In your blog post, analyze how his desire for independence contributed to his death. Then, connect this idea to your own life by explaining a time when you wanted complete independence or control over a situation. Did things go as planned, or did you face unexpected challenges?

Prompt Response:   McCandless desire to for independence contributed to his death as he wanted to be independent from everyone and everything. He rejected societal norms and important survival skills and tools. For example, he rejected valuable knowledge that could have helped him escape from the area he was in Alaska and could have save him from food poisoning. In my personal life, I want to have control over what career path I want to choose rather than having pressure to follow a specific career that won't make me happy. But the pressure from choosing the "right path" and not messing it up is challenging to manage especially when I will be the first in my family to go to college.  Summary: Today we went over the remaining chapters of the book and watched the film adaptation  Reflection:  We finished the book and watch the movie
