Chris and his sister Carine McCandless had a very close relationship, even when he struggled to connect with others. Write about a relationship in your life where you feel truly understood. Explain what makes that relationship strong and how it compares to the connection between Chris and Carine in Into the Wild

Prompt Response:  In my life there is a unique person that always makes me feel understood and cared for. They are the kindest, most thoughtful and understandable person I've ever met. They also ask for my opinions and make me feel hear and seen. Like Chris and Carines relationship, my relationship with this person is truly something that I value a lot and I care for them.  Summary: We read chapter 13 and work on a worksheet.  Reflection:  I finished the worksheet.

Based on the first 40 minutes of the film and Chapters 1–11 of the book, does the visual version of Chris’s journey make his choices seem more justified or more reckless than the text does? Explain how the medium (film vs writing) shapes your perspective.

Prompt Response:  The film version of Chris's journey makes his choices seem justifiable because in the beginning it shows the beauty that he longed for and his rejection from materialistic things, like the car his parents were trying to give him. It also shows how his self actualization rather than his judgement from others. The book introduces characters their interactions, thoughts and view about McCandless, like Gallien at the beginning, and dives deeper into his complex family dynamic.  Summary: Today we watch a movie adaptation of the book  Reflection:  We answer a few questions about the film

In your opinion, what builds trust in a relationship, and what can damage it?

Prompt Response- In my opinion, trust in a relationship is built through communication, and understanding. In a relationship communication is very important to getting to know the other persons thoughts, and feelings along with understanding of the other persons thoughts and feelings. I think that a lack of communication, inability to understand, lies, and secrets are what can damage relationships.  Summary- Today we worked on vocabulary and read and discussed chapter 12. Reflection - I finished the vocabulary sheet and participated in discussion.

Think about a moment when your understanding of your family changed as you got older. How did that shift impact your perspective, and how does that connect to Chris’s realization about his parents in Chapter 11?

Think about a moment when your understanding of your family changed as you got older. How did that shift impact your perspective, and how does that connect to Chris’s realization about his parents in Chapter 11? Prompt Response: I always thought that my family dynamic was normal and that there was no way it could ever change, but as I got older I was able to understand that families aren't perfect and that there will be issues but the way we approach those issues is what breaks or holds the family together. This shift showed me that there can be someone in the family that can be a model for how healthy relationships are or how we approach difficult situations.  Summary: Today we read chapter 11 and worked on 2 sheets. Reflection: I will finish the 2 worksheets.

Chris chooses independence over relationships. When have you chosen to be on your own instead of relying on others? What happened, and would you make the same choice again?

Prompt Response:  The time when I chose to be alone instead of relying on others was when I am feeling upset about something that happen to me. I normally don't rely on others to figure out my feelings or to remind of dates or to other things, so I choose to be alone and rely on myself. And I would make the same decision because being able to process my emotions help me understand myself better, but I still take advice from others. Sometimes the other person forgets too, so relying on them is not the best decision.  Summary: Today we reviewed chapters 1- 7 Reflection:  I will do 6 critical questions for chapter 8.

Reflect on your reading of Into the Wild chapters 1–10. Which chapter stood out to you the most, and why? In your response, explain what specifically made this chapter meaningful, interesting, or impactful. You may consider elements such as McCandless’s actions, a key event, a theme, or Krakauer’s storytelling

Prompt Response:  The chapter that stood out to me was chapter 6. In chapter 6, McCandless met Franz who was a like father figure to him. This chapter is interesting to me because it shows how McCandless was a charismatic person that was able to make meaningful, brief relationships along his journey. This is also the first time that McCandless had someone who cared deeply for him and taught him.  Summary: Today we took a test for chapter 1-10 Reflection:  I finished the test

Chris McCandless rejects a traditional path of success and instead defines success on his own terms through freedom, experience, and personal meaning. Reflect on what success means to you at your current stage in life. In the response, explain how success is currently defined (grades, college acceptance, achievements, happiness, etc.) and where those ideas come from. Then, consider whether that definition truly reflects personal values or if it is shaped by expectations from family, school, or society.

Prompt Response:  For me success is achieving financial freedom. When you have financial freedom, you have security. With this security, I can do many things, like buying my mom a house, traveling with my family, and seeing my grandparents and the rest of my family. This type of freedom comes from the idea that there should be someone in my family that breaks the pattern and I'll be that person. I think that this type of success is shaped by my personal values because I realize that I want to make those things happen for my own personal satisfaction.  Summary: Today we discuss critical questions for chapter 8 and started reading chapters 9 and 10. Reflection:  I will finish the two worksheets for chapters 9 and 10.

Choose a vocabulary word from Lesson 10 that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

Prompt Response:  The word that resonates with me personally is deleterious. When I was a kid I chewed a little bit of a poison plant, called the calla lily. The flower looked very beautiful and I think I felt tempered to eat it as a 5 year old. The calla lily causes intense irritation or swelling around the mouth, but its not deadly to humans. I was worried about the deleterious effects of the calla lily that I drank too much water.  Summary: Today we worked on vocabulary lesson 10.  Reflection:  I finished exercises 1 and 3 of the vocabulary.

I am also considering studying aboard in Spain at the Universidad Europea de Madrid (UEM) and Valencia (UEV). I will study interior design, so I feel like going to Spain will help me get more opportunities too.  Summary: Today we read chapter 7 and work on an assignment.  Reflection:  I finished reading the chapter and turned in the assignment.

Twice a year we adjust our clocks for daylight saving time, but the change can affect our sleep, energy, and daily routines. Now that we have sprung forward; reflect on how this time change impacts you personally. Do you find it easy or difficult to adjust your schedule? Explain how the time change affects your mood, productivity, or daily habits.

Prompt Response:  I find it easy to adjust to the schedule of daylight savings time. However, when I walk to the bus stop, its still night time, so I find it weird to walk in the dark but I get use to eventually. It gets dark late, so when I take a nap, it feels good to wake and feel like you didn't lose the rest of the day because its still day. I also feel the need to be more productive for as a long as possible because it is still day.  Summary:   Today we read chapter 6 of the book and completed an assignment. Reflection:  I finished reading the chapter and turned in the assignment.

In Chapter 5 of Into the Wild, McCandless is strongly influenced by writers like Jack London, whose stories shape the way he thinks about adventure and wilderness. Has a book, song, musician, or artist ever influenced the way you think about life, goals, or the world around you? Identify the specific book, song, musician, or artist and explain how their ideas or message affected your thinking.

Prompt Response:  John Powells composer of How to Train Your Dragon and Justin Hurwitz composer of La La Land are two musicians that have influenced that way I think. I love the way that all the pieces sound because they make me feel calm, excited, and happy to hear very lovely sounds. This has influenced my thoughts because it makes me remember the scenes when the music was played and the beautiful and simplicity of just appreciating moments. So, I just appreciate the big and small moments in my life.  Summary: T oday we read chapter 5 and answer some questions on canvas Reflection: I will finish the questions

In Into the Wild, Christopher McCandless gives up many of his possessions in pursuit of freedom and meaningful experiences. If you had to simplify your life and keep only a few important possessions, what would you keep and why? What would be hardest to leave behind?

In  Into the Wild , Christopher McCandless gives up many of his possessions in pursuit of freedom and meaningful experiences. If you had to simplify your life and keep only a few important possessions, what would you keep and why? What would be hardest to leave behind? Prompt Response:  If I had to simplify my life, I would keep my Bible, phone and charger, some of my clothes, shoes, my bed and blankets, and money because I think these things are essential. People sometimes feel the need to step away from their normal routines or environments in order to better understand themselves. Describe a time when you needed distance from a situation, place, or group of people in order to think more clearly or gain perspective. What did that experience teach you about yourself?

Prompt Response:  There was a time in my life where I was having a hard time processing some of certain emotions and I need clarity to understand them. So I hid in my closet, put some calm music, and wrote down what I thought of a situation. I have siblings that depend on me, so I can't really go anywhere without being disturbed. That situation taught me that its okay to find time for yourself.  Summary: Today we read the first chapter of the book. Reflection: I finished the questions for the chapter.

Today you worked on creating your Vocabulary Digital Cards in Adobe Express. In one well-developed paragraph, reflect on the assignment by explaining which vocabulary word was easiest for you to understand, which word was most challenging, and how creating your own sentence and selecting an image helped strengthen your understanding of the vocabulary. Use specific examples from your work.

Prompt Response:  The vocabulary word culpable was easiest for me to understand because it sound like the word guilty in spanish. The word benign was challenging because it made me think of beginning but it actually means beneficial. Creating my own sentences helped me think about the word more deeply and figure out a way to use it in a situation. Selecting an image helped me visualized what that word meant. For example, the word blithe means carefree and lighthearted, so I choose an image of children playing because they are carefree. I made a sentences that relates to children's carefreeness.
