Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks and spending time with family over a nice dinner. Write about your most unforgettable meal.

Prompt Response:  One of my most unforgettable meals was when my aunt to visit. Her presence at the dining table made it so memorable because she brought incredible warmth and joy. The meals were delicious, but it was her company that made the moment special. As we ate, her intriguing stories and laughter made the memory unforgettable.   Summary: Today we worked on a group assessment for the story we read Reflection:  We finished the assessment and I finished the blog.

Write about a time when you realized you needed to look out for yourself in a silly or harmless situation—maybe dodging a pop quiz, escaping a group chat argument, or remembering at the last second to submit an assignment. How did choosing wisely make your life easier?

Prompt Response: There was this one time when I realized just how important it was to stay on top of my tests. I had completely forgotten about an important test and had to do a very quick study session. I was stressed out and all I could think was how I would fail the test. However, I was not confident in my knowledge of the content at the moment, but ended up thinking the test was easy. This taught me that staying organized and not procrastinating is very crucial.   Summary: Today we finished reading the ¨Life you save¨ and watched a video about it.  Reflection: I finished my blog post and

Describe a time that you had an encounter with a homeless person, either directly or indirectly. What did you think and how did it make you feel?

Prompt Response:  While I was grocery shopping with my mom, I saw a man walking around and asking for money. I thought to myself how unfortunate it would be to be in that situation and started asking myself questions about how he got there. Seeing that homeless man made me feel grateful for the things I have.  Summary: Today in class we read a new story and answered some questions. Reflection:   I finished revising and answering the questions.

Write about what you are thankful for.

Prompt Response:   I am grateful for mom who always tries to support my siblings and I. I am thankful for my siblings who have brought me joy and taught me how to be more responsible and kinder.  I am thankful for the beautiful trees and beautiful sunsets in the morning. I am grateful for the small and big things I have. Summary: We did a new vocabulary and Exercises 3 and 4 from the book.  Reflection:  I finished my blog post

Miss Emily’s house once represented pride and tradition, but over time it became a symbol of decay and isolation. Describe a place that holds deep memories for you—positive or negative—and explain how it reflects part of who you are or how you’ve changed over time.

Miss Emily’s house once represented pride and tradition, but over time it became a symbol of decay and isolation. Describe a place that holds deep memories for you—positive or negative—and explain how it reflects part of who you are or how you’ve changed over time. Prompt Response:  My grandparent house is a place that reflects part of who I am. While growing up, I remember that I would always play outside with my cousins and be creative with what I played with. Their house was so huge and didn´t feel like it lacked anything back then, however now I realize that it lacked a lot. For example, there was one specific place where me and my cousins would gather to play random stuff. To me it was beautiful and magical because there was a tree to the side and we used a car wheel or big rocks to sit. But now it looks so damaged and very old. Those memories helped appreciate the simple things, but it also helped me see the world with a more realistic perspective.  Summary: Today...

The last scene forces readers to reinterpret Emily’s entire life. Write about a moment when new information changed your perception of a person or situation. How did that “plot twist” reshape your understanding, the same way Faulkner’s ending reshapes the story?

Prompt Response:  I have a friend that always seemed carefree, happy, and successful in her academic life. However, I recently discover that she has been going through a tough situation with her other friends. I saw how hurt she actually was because I thought she seemed like a strong person on the outside, yet she is a sensitive and kind person to others but not to herself.  This change how I viewed her and I got empathizes and understand more about her. Although we don't see each other often, I am glad she was able to talk to me and share what she had been hiding.  Summary: We worked on an Emily assessment in groups.  Reflection:  I finished the blog post.

In “A Rose for Emily,” Miss Emily’s actions shock the reader—she kills her fiancé and keeps his body in her home for years. People often react with disbelief when they hear about real-life stories that seem just as unbelievable. Write about the most shocking or “craziest” news story you have ever heard. What happened, and why did it stand out to you? How did people react to it, and what does it reveal about human behavior?

Prompt Response:  One of the shocking news story I have heard was during World War II when Japanese forces committed many atrocities in the territories they controlled. For example, the Nanjing Massacre saw the mass killing of people and sexual violence which left deep trauma for those who experience those events. This stood out to me because I could not believe how Japanese forces could do such horrible things to other people, especially to children. Atrocities and genocide in the world revealed the extent of human cruelty, greed, and indifference. Summary: We finished reading " A Rose for Emily,”  and watch a short film about it.  Reflection:  Get ready for the assessment on Friday and finish the blog.

Think about the vocabulary words from Lesson Two. Write about a time you saw or heard one of these words outside of the classroom — maybe in a movie, song, social media post, or book. Describe how it was used and whether the context helped you understand the word better.

Prompt Response:  In a song, I saw the word serendipity used as the title. Serendipity means a pleasant surprise made by accident and in the song, the lyrics talk about the love between two people feels like fate or a wonderful coincidence. So, the title fits the song perfectly with the message and vibe of the song.  Summary: Today we worked on new vocabulary. Reflection: I did my blog and finished my vocabulary activity.

Thinking about "The Rockpile," what is something your parents forbade you from doing when you were growing up? Explain what it was and why they might have set that rule.

Prompt Response:  Growing up, even now, my mom never let me go to certain places alone like the park. She might have set that rule to ensure my safety. One time I wanted to go for a walk alone at the park while she stayed with my little siblings, she didn´t let me go  but I insisted so much that she let me go. As I was walking, this man approached me and said that I should be more careful. I felt unsafe, so I rushed back to where my mom was. So, from then on I never walked by myself.  Summary: Today we went over background information for the new reading ¨ The Rockpile¨ and started a Powerpoint presentation with groups.  Reflection:   I will do my blog and finish reading   ¨ The Rockpile¨

Thinking about “The Rockpile,” which parent or guardian in your life has been the strictest when it comes to discipline? Explain how their approach to discipline has influenced you or shaped your behavior.

Prompt Response:  Growing up my mom was quite strict about chores and responsibility. These rules helped me become more organized with everything in the house and helped me become disciplined in anything that I tried to do. This helped develop a strong sense of responsibility and time management, which is something very important in my personal life. It helped me be more self-sufficient which is a good skill to develop more independence and get things done.  Summary: Today we continued to work on the PowerPoint presentations for ¨The Rockpile.¨ Reflection:  I will finish my part of the presentation due Monday.

Words shape how we think, write, and interpret literature. Think about a time when learning a new word or understanding a specific term helped you better analyze a text, express an idea, or make your writing stronger.

Words shape how we think, write, and interpret literature. Think about a time when learning a new word or understanding a specific term helped you better analyze a text, express an idea, or make your writing stronger. Prompt Response:   Whenever I have a short answer response and I don´t know a word, I figure out the definition first. When I know what the word means I can understand what the question is trying to ask. Figuring out the definition for some words has helped my writing and answers become more understandable and to the point.  Summary: Today we went over new words and did Exercise 1 of the book.  Reflection: I will do my blog and keep in mind one of the new vocabulary.

In the poem, the speaker and his neighbor meet each year to repair a wall. Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person? Prompt Response:   One time, my friend got upset because I did not respond right away. Initially, I wasn't speaking up about it because I was afraid it would ruin our friendship, hurt their feelings, or make them think I didn't care. But after a while, I got really stressed, so I decided to tell them the truth and explain that I was busy doing other things.. My friend understood after a while, and it helped our friendship. We learn to respect each others personal space.  Summary: Today we analyzed a poem Reflection:  I did my blog.

Both poems by Robert Frost explore the passage of time and life’s changing moments. Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected. How does this experience connect to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay”?

Prompt Response:  The time when life changed too quickly than I expected was the transitioning time between elementary and middle school. All through elementary school, I thought time went by slow and life was simple and stressless. However, once Covid hit and we had to finish 6th grade online, I felt like time slipped away very fast and then I was already at the end of 8th grade. In Frost's poem, he express how nothings lasts forever, and everything is constantly changing. In my experience, time went too fast, and I did not realized the changes I went through all that time, until I reflected on it. Summary: Analyze and answer questions about the "Nothing gold can stay" poem by Robert Frost.  Reflection:  I finished the questions and did my blog.

Reflect on a time when you paused to appreciate the beauty of nature, much like the speaker in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Where were you, what did you notice, and how did that moment of stillness make you feel or change your perspective?

Prompt Response:  I remember a time when I stopped to admire the sunset. My family and I went to went to the beach, but instead of leaving early before it got dark, we decided to stay and watch the sunset. I noticed the sunsets pink and purple colors in the sky, the wind rustling through the trees and the soft waves coming to towards the shore. It was like time stopped for a few seconds, it brought me peace, gratitude and joy to be able to experience the beauty of an amazing Creator.  Summary: We analyzed our poems, started our one pager and read "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening."  Reflection:  I will finish my one pager and do my blog.
